MY THANKSGIVING DECOR & TIPS ON HOSTING A BIG DINNER

With conference just a few days away it feels like Thanksgiving was aaaaaaggggeees ago but I thought I'd still share with you my table decor. Now I took these when the table wasn't quite set (some plates were still in the dishwasher) and it was too dark to take good pics when we finally sat down to eat but just imagine an incredible meal...mmmmm turkey

Now for the tips...

I'm no pro but this is what I learned:

  • Try to get as much done the night (and nights) before. I spray painted the leaves two days before and worked on the names the night before. So glad I did, as they took forever!
  • One of my friends suggested having appies out before the meal and that worked great. James made a massive board as you can see above and people did nibble on it while we waited for food to be ready.
  • Do it potluck style because seriously, you do not need to kill yourself cooking a massive meal for 15 people.
  • Try to save the cleaning for when the guests leave. Now we defs failed in this one we did a lot of cleaning during the meal and didn't get to sit and enjoy our family as much as I wanted to. As sucky as it would have been to be cleaning the kitchen till midnight, I'd take that if it meant more time laughing and chatting with family.

Those are my tips, but I know I could learn some from you! What are your tips for hosting a big dinner party?

DIY // GOLD GLITTER SHOES

as you probably know, i have a slight obsession with gold. all gold everything is slowly becoming one of my mottos. i also am passionate about glitter. so let’s combine the two and add some shoes to the mix and there ya go, we have gold glitter shoes.

did you know you can pretty much gold glitter anything? and it’s incredibly easy as well! just follow the steps below…

supplies needed: shoes, sandpaper, mod podge, glitter, paint brushes, masking tape, bowl

1. sandpaper shoe if using patent leather.

2. tape off everywhere you do not want glitter!

3. mix glitter and mod podge together in a plastic bowl until a thick glittery paste has developed.

4. start painting the shoe with the mixture.

5. keep painting..

6. just keep painting…..

7. let dry. then remove tape when absolutely dry.

8. paint the bottom of your shoe with nail polish if you prefer.

9. let dry.

10. voila! glittery shoe!

GOLD PLANTER DIY

my obsession with gold is getting a little out of control. actually, i take that back. i am 100% standing behind my love for that sparkling colour. thankfully, i have an incredible husband who fully supports my desperate urge to spray paint everything in our house.

i have a wee little diy this friday morning. it did not require any crazy prep yet had spectacular results.

supplies needed: planter pot, gold spray paint, drop cloth (see, so easy!!)

so all you gotta do it spray on the pot. yep, that’s it. one tip would be to spray evenly. i got a little too excited on the sprayer and found the paint dripping a little bit. let it dry & then plant your plant. #boom

oh gold, how i love you.

happy friday!

STAYING GOLD

I achieved GOLD CARD status at Starbucks. I feel so legit. I hate to admit it but I am a Starbucks girl through & through. I don’t mind a latte at Habit or Discovery or Parsonage but I drink soy and like added flavours, which makes my latte around $7. I can get a grande of the drink i love for $2.86. You can’t beat that. Look down on me all you want but Starbucks gives me free soy, free flavours and a free drink every 15.

Happy times.

Which is your favourite coffee spot?

staying gold always,
