DESIGN // JASON AND RACHEL'S WEDDING INVITE

The BEST party of 2015 is going down in May..... #clungtothejung aka my best friend's wedding!

I had the honour of helping Rachel make her invites happen. See Rachel doesn't need any help at all in the creative side. She has one of the sharpest creative eyes I've seen. And is the most fashionable person I know. 

So when it came to her invites, she knew exactly what she wanted and exactly how she wanted them to turn out....and that my friend's is THE BEST and why we're besties.

Here's how we made them...She drew the outline of her and Jason (how stinking cute is it...seriously!!!) and then scanned it in. I opened it up in photoshop and did my magic...aka straightened out lines, added colour (I'm extremely proud of the natural blush I put on her cheeks) and then entered in the text on the back. It's extremely obvious, but just incase you think the back looks like junk, please note I blurred out the address of her wedding...you know incase any of Rachel's stalkers want to cause some trouble on her big day..NU-UH. NOT TODAY.

And she did her magic with the names on the envelopes and stamps. Seriously, I need her writing as a font!!

TWO YEARS

Yesterday marked James & my two year wedding anniversary! We spent the weekend going off grid at the gorgeous Point no Point resort (just over an hour from Victoria but felt like years away!) No wifi. No cell phone service. Private hot tub overlooking the ocean. It was pure bliss. 

I still can't believe it's been two years since we said "I do". I still remember almost every detail from that day.

Waking up at 6am with my bffs. So nervous yet so excited. 

Having the best time getting ready. Dancing to get out the jitters.

The quiet ride to the ceremony and the anticipation as we arrived.

Holding my daddy's arm tight as he walked me down the aisle.

Locking eyes on my love, my husband, my future. 

Our first kiss in months! ha.

The day went by RIDICULOUSLY FAST. I remember asking for the time sometime during the reception and being so sad when I found out how late it was because I was having so much fun and wanted it to last forever.

Happy two years James peter Liira. Here's to a billion more.

Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be.

BUY MY WEDDING DRESS

If you're a newlywed gal, you've most likely been faced with the choice to sell your wedding dress or keep it. Perhaps you have a major big closet to store it in. Perhaps you like to try it on from time to time (no judgement…). Perhaps you think your daughter will wear it one day. If you can relate to those three things, then you should keep your dress. But me…well I don't have a large storage closet (my dress takes up a third of it), I haven't tried it on since I wore it that beautiful day and I wouldn't bet on my future daughters wearing my dress (poufy princess dresses aren't everyone's cup of tea). 

I know I'm biased but I ADORED my dress. There are not many times where you can get away with dressing like a freaking disney princess. The moment I put it on, I knew it was mine. It was magical and it wasn't out of my price range (here's a tip all you dress hunting brides to be…don't try dresses on that are out of your price range)! It was super comfortable and even though it was quite large, I was able to go in a rowboat, climb a tree fort and jump rope (oh those crazy things those wedding photographers make you do…jk we had the best photographers and you should hire them..love you ameris!)

The time has come for someone else to experience the magic (and for my storage to grow..ha). I had the best day of my life in this dress, now it's time for someone else to. #THEKONGS

i’m currently wrapped up in blankets battling this stupid cold that came on last thursday. i’m the worst sick person because it’s really, really, really hard for me to sit down and rest. so i’m trying to rest but there are construction workers literally right outside our window (they’re repairing something on our roof so we won’t have any little critters in our walls this winter like we had last winter…). they’re talking very loudly and using very loud power tools and i can see them through the cracks in our blinds…oh joy..

so to distract myself from that i’m going to show you a few pics from the wedding we attended on saturday night! my long time friend, chris married his bible college sweetheart, kirsten. i’ve known chris for a long time. us and a few others had the privilege of being young 20 somethings friends immersed in church ministries & life adventures. we all shared many fun & crazy times in those days and i am so thankful that for the most part, we’re all still in touch and a part of each others’ lives.

 a few of my fave memories of the day include: watching chris’ face as his bride walked down the aisle towards him & their future, ian’s best man’s speech (including us three performing the chicken snack rap!), catching up with lovely chelsea who lives up island, & sharing many laughs with old friends.

unfortunately (probably due to my foggy head) i didn’t get any actual pictures of the bride & groom. but their wedding had a hashtag so please go creep the pics of the beautiful couple on instragram (search #thekongs) 

congratulations chris & kirsten!!! your day was incredible. so excited for what God has in store for you two!

we had a lovely time in vancouver (aside from me being mad sick). we stayed at our dear friends house who have the cutest 3 little kids. there’s something incredibly special about hearing little voices ask each other at 7am "should we go and wake aunty lauwa and uncle sames?" awwwwww. and it doesn’t help with the twins saying to us right before we were leaving "don’t go. don’t go." ahhhh, my heart. normans, we’ll be back before you know it!

sorry for my mad run on sentences today, my brain is a cloud and james is at school till 7:30pm so coco is keeping me company which i’m thankful for because she cuddles me but then i talk to her..a lot..and then i get scared that the construction workers outside my window can hear me and think i’m crazy……

= you only marry once ryan & joy 2013

what a beautiful day saturday was. james’ sister joy married her love, ryan. joy was one of those breathtaking, absolutely radiant kind of brides. i had the privilege of doing her make-up and honestly, she didn’t need very much. the girl is stunning. and not only stunning on the outside but even more beautiful on the inside.

she married her college sweetheart, ryan. it’s incredible how good God is. ryan is just right for joy. honestly i don’t think there could be anyone better suited for her or better suited for him. they’re just meant to be.

i had so much fun celebrating the incredible couple. it was a bit of a bittersweet day because we said goodbye to them, not knowing when we’ll see them next. they flew to their honeymoon the next day then after that, will be residing in austin. we’re praying we’ll get to see them within the next year…!!
